Metcalfe Plant Hire have been working on a project with Cumbria County Council undertaking some remediation works between the A683 between Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen.

The road had initially slipped during the storms of November 2020 and due to the complex nature of the slip and the environmentally sensitive location in which it is situated, there was a lengthy design process to deliver the repair work.  Work began in mid-September and has taken a little longer than predicted, due to a combination of inclement weather and complications encountered on site requiring changes in the design and leading to additional site works.

However, Cumbria County Council is now pleased to confirm that the A683 is now open and would like to thank the local and wider communities for their continued support and patience while they improve the highway network during these challenging times.
